A sad abandoned shell. Charles Boot would no doubt have stood and looked up in the same manner when his tower was finished, but it would certainly have been a more appealing view. He would probably have cast an approving eye around his 'creation', for not an inconsiderable amount of money would no doubt have been spent on its construction, considering its isolated location.
Any abandoned folly always has a poignant feeling about it, but more so when in an isolated setting like this one.
