In the grounds of Brightling Park house, which were landscaped by Capability Brown, you will find this Greek Rotunda Temple. It is thought to have been designed by Sir Robert Smirk around 1810, and is reputed to have been used for 19th century parties of a dubious nature.

It
is surprising how many of these follies seem to have been used for parties
where there was either an excess of drink, gambling or sex. Is it really
big enough is the first question, and as there is obviously no heating,
the last suggestion must have been seasonal.

Visiting
Built on
farmland, no public access to the temple is permitted without special
permission.
